The Vadhvana Wetland and Eco Campsite is a huge irrigation reservoir and wetland which is situated almost 10 kilometers from Dabhoi and 20 kilometres from the Jambughoda village. This single water reservoir and wetland serves the water needs of 25 adjoining villages in the area. Apart from being a wetland and irrigation reservoir it is also an ecological campsite and tourists from all over the world accumulate here to watch the various species of birds that migrate to this place all throughout the year.
This place is famous for its bird watching facilities and its rare sightings of species of birds like stork, tern, ibis and spoonbill. The facilities of the Eco Campsite are an Orientation centre, Cottage accommodations with bath and toilet facilities, and Observation towers for bird watching, the place also has boating facilities for tourists wishing to explore the wetland. There is also a separate area for campfires to be held. The best part is that expert guides and binoculars are available at the office for bird watchers.
This place is a heaven for bird watchers and wildlife photographers. People who have been there are bound to return with some amazing pictures of rare species of birds and the whole wetland ecology.
This is one of the most important campsite and reservoir in the Dabhoi area. The campsite is situated around Vadhavana Lake which is the second largest lake in Gujarat and was built at the initiative and interest of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III.
Where is it located?
The Vadhvana Wetland and Eco Campsite is very well connected to the cities and the whole state through road, rail and air services.
By road, there are various state transport buses all over Gujarat with rates ranging according to the buses availed. There are private car services also available which ferry people to the venue. The price varies according to the preferences of the customers. Tourists have a range from Rs. 650 (without air conditioning)- Rs. 2200( luxury vehicles) for 8 hours per day.
By rail, Vadodara is a major railway station and car services take tourists to the campsite.
Vadodara also serves as the rally point for tourists coming by air and private car services can be availed to reach the Wetland.
Ideal Visiting Time
The best season or the prime time to visit this campsite is between the months of October to March because this is the main migratory season for birds all around the globe to migrate into this area.
