This library is regarded to be one of the oldest in the Rajkot region of the state. The journey of this library began in the year of 1856 which was previously known as Gungrahak Mandali. The library was transferred to its newly laid independent building in the area of Kothi compound during the period of 1864. In the year of 1893 the functioning of this library initiated from the newly constructed building of the Jubilee Garden. This library came to be known as Lang Library in honor of Col Lang who had served to be the agent of Kathiawad on behalf of the British government. The architectural style of this library is worth to be mentioned. The building structure is based on Victorian style and the Gothic arched had been constructed using native sandstone of Gujarat.
