Surat is the 2nd largest city of Gujarat and also the industrial diamond cutting capital of the world as over 90% of the planet’s rough diamonds are cut and polished in the city. The city is also a popular stopover and entry point for tourists proceeding to seacoasts, religious or pilgrimage sites, museums, archives, and national wildlife sanctuaries or nature parks. Suvali Beach situated quite far away from the heart of the city is one such shore that offers the urbanites and metropolitans a respite from the asphyxiating monotony of city life. The environment around the beach is completely calm and quiet and one can distinctly hear the sound of gentle waves washing up on the shoreline.
The unique feature of the Suvali beach is its black sand that stretches for miles along. Moreover, the sand has a very soft texure which means you can dug in your toes and feet a little deeply while standing or walking. The beach is also not frequented heavily by travelers allowing you to relax and unwind in solitude.
You’ll simply love the solitariness and splendid isolation of the place as there are no shops selling knickknacks or restaurants serving food. Other attractions that you can consider touring are the Ambika Niketan Temple, Sardar Patel Museum, Dumas Beach, Piram Bet Island, Sarthana Nature Park, and the ISKCON Temple.
For couple of decades back, this beach had remained unexplored and less visited spots. Developing into an offbeat tourist spot, till today the beach does not witness a lot of visitors. The entire beach is known for the black sand which is often slippery and may slip beneath your feet. With time this has started getting popular with a few development works around the area. People often come here to witness the blissful sunrise as well as sunset.
Where is it Located?
Suvali Beach is a very tranquil destination for tourists and holidaymakers located about 30kms from the citycenter. The shore can be easily accessed from the Suvali beach main road and the small township of Hazira. At some points along the road, the beach is just 4kms away and one simply has to cross the street and keep trekking for the aforementioned distance to reach the coast.
Ideal Visiting Time
As it gets extremely hot during the summer months, the opportune time to travel to Surat is during the winter when the climate is cool enough enabling you to enjoy your trip.
