Pampa Sarovar

The ancient lake is famous as it is mentioned in the Ramayana as the Pushtarini Lake. It revolves around the mythological story of Bhil woman Shabari, who had offered berries to Lord Rama.

The lake region is the main attraction here. It can be ideal for a day trip and back to relish the cool atmosphere around it. The adjacent Poorna River can be viewed as a classic example of nature’s beauty. The Pampa Sarovar is mostly surrounded by jungle like greenery with the river meandering on one side. Shabari Dham is also very close to the lake where the actual shrine of Shabari Mata lies and the whole area is popular for the Shabari Kumbh Mela that made it an important travel site in India.

History

The place holds significant religious value to the Hindus as it holds tales about Lord Rama who is mentioned in the epic of Ramayana. The centuries old lake though not decorated holds a certain charm in the eyes of the beholder. The Pampa Sarovar is a prominent tourist attraction in Gujarat for the mythological tales that surround it.

How to Reach

The Pampa Sarovar is situated on the hilly region of Chamak Dungar nearing the village of Subir in the interior districts of the Dangs. It falls on the Ahwa-Navapur Road in Gujarat. It also falls near the banks of the Poorna River that sideline through the Dangs. The lake can be reached easily form the Dangs district as it is just 40 minutes away. Its location on the Ahwa road also makes it smooth to reach via buses or private cars. Bordering Subir village is just 30 kilometers far from Pampa Sarovar.

The Pampa Sarovar is open to all and can be visited anytime of the year.
