Nagina Masjid

It is an ancient monument with a cenotaph and mausoleum. It is an integral part of the Champaner Pavagadh Archaeological Park. The Nagina Masjid is also enlisted in the list of UNESCO Heritage. The main attraction of the Nagina Masjid is the historic creation of it. The ancient monument is built with utmost precision which is sure to sway the visitors. The travel landmark in Gujarat marks the cluster of medieval mosques that are a major part of the history of these parts.

The entrance to the mosque is also very catchy with two huge towering minarets and a centrally arch passage through which the visitors enter. The interior of the masjid is equally fascinating with carved roof with a spherical balcony. The large prayer hall is also a fine example of the geometrical planning on which these structures where based on.

History

It is a fine example of the finest of masonry work that was prominent in the 15th century. The Hindu Muslim style of architecture is priceless that comprises of winded stairs and arch entrances. The domes that mark the symbol of Muslim monument are also prominent here. The enclosed mausoleum is also a major spot inside the vicinity of the monument. It also comprises of a cenotaph which has four openings carved with vintage floral designs.
The Nagina Masjid is an important tourist location in Gujarat for its creative history. It is built on the medieval Muslim architecture centuries ago. Its main building component is rubble masonry. It is based on the simple geometric planning of three domes and three minarets. It is classified as a ruins which further add to it vintage charm.

Where is it located?

The ancient Nagina Masjid is located in the old town of Champaner in the Panchmahal district. The ancient town can be best visited from Vadodara which is 47 kilometers away. Ahmedabad is 150 kilometers away from Champaner and can be reached by both the roads and the railways. Vadodara is the closest airport which is equipped with connecting flights to many cities of the country.

Ideal Visiting Time

The Masjid remains open throughout the year and can be visited anytime. However, during the holy month of Ramzan and other popular muslim festivals, the masjid witnesses a huge footfall.
