The historic city of Mul Dwarka is situated in the city of Kodinar in the Gir Somnath district. There is a circular structure of about 4 meters in height that dates back to the 12th to 15th century AD which was constructed by using the same limestone blocks as of the temple.

Kodinar falls very close to Una district on the highway. Una is just 37 kilometers away from it. The Gir Forest close to it makes it further connectable via buses to and from the city. The nearest station is at Veraval with long distance trains and local trains. Diu is the nearest airport with domestic flight facilities that leads to Kodinar.
