Jami Masjid

The significant tourist spot in Gujarat is a vintage mosque that belonged to the 15th century era. It is built with fine architecture based on Hindu Muslim designs and carvings.
One can enchant themselves upon reaching the monumental site simply by appreciating its architectural beauty. It comprises of two huge minarets and is built up using rubble. It is a fine example of how advanced the Hindu Muslim pattern of construction used to be in the past. Also there is a large water tank that was used for cleaning purposes before offering prayers. The travel location in India has been part of many histories that revolves around it. One half of the two minarets were damaged earlier by fights between the Gujarat Sultanate and a governor of the Scindia clan.

History

The Jami Masjid was built by Sultan Mahmud Begada of Gujarat in the year 1513. It took an astonishing 25 years to complete the huge monument. It was a fine inspiration that the Sultan took from the Mughals that make it a must visit tour site in Gujarat.
Jami Masjid or the public as it is also known in these parts is listed in the UNESCO Heritage group for its rich history. It is also a major part of the Champaner Pavagadh Archaeological cluster that makes Champaner very famous. It is currentlu under the vintage ruin status but is actively visited by many time and again. It devours scenic sediment from the medieval period of the 15th century due to its beautiful build up and carvings. It also falls under the rare list of ancient monuments of the Baroda Heritage Trust.

Where is it located?

The magnificent Jami Masjid is a prominent landmark in the ancient town of Champaner, that fall in the Panchmahal district of the state of Gujarat in India. The town is easily accessible due to its well linked roads. Champaner can be best visited from Vadodara which is 47 kilometers away. Ahmedabad is 150 kilometers away from Champaner and can be reached by railways. Vadodara is the closest airport which is equipped with connecting flights to many cities of the country.

The mosque cum historical site can be toured anytime of the year. The Islamic monument is open to travelers of any religious group.
