The pristine Gopnath Mahadev Temple is an ancient Shiva temple that devotional Hindu poet Narshing Mehta found solace and spiritual redemption. The temple is built on a wide area with very beautiful scenery on the sea shore of the Gulf of Khambat. One can receive great spiritual access as the area is surrounded by natural beauty. The temple has two domes on its roof with two different colored flags that depict the separate temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The temple area is very neat and clean with Dharamsalas available for the devotees. It is a very religious pilgrimage spot on the sea shore making it a very scenic spot for rejuvenating ones soul. The temple is engulfed in a boundary with a decorated entrance with man-made carvings and figurines. From a distance from the coast the Gopnath Mahadev Temple looks like fort spread over the beach.
The Gopnath Temple is reputed for the poet Narshing Mehta who found his spirituality on this spot close to 500 years ago. The temple is very old but has been maintained very properly for its devotees. Historically there have been two flags installed over the heads of the temple depicting the two separate shrines of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. There is also an old lighthouse that is also part of the tourist attraction here. The lighthouse is still in stable condition although it stood tall there for many years. The temple was built alongside the ancient fort of the king of Gohilvad in the Gopnath beach that can be added in the tour list.

The Gopnath Mahadev Temple is on the beach in the Talaja area of Taluka in the district of Bhavnagar in the Indian state of Gujarat. Located at the Gulf of Kambhat coast it lies at a distance of 75 kilometers from Bhavnagar and 22 kilometers from Talaja.
