GOP Dwarka

The Gop village in Dwarka holds eminent value in the pages associated with Lord Krishna who is believed to have grown up in Dwarka. History

The Gop in Dwarka is a famous tribe in the state of Gujarat in western India. They are famous for being the linked descendants to Lord Krishna. There is also a popular temple here in the homage of God Krishna named the Gopnath Mahadev. The Gops’ clan is famous for being cattle herders since ancient centuries.The temple further established under the preaching of Shri Vallabhacharya who was an avid follower of Lord Krishna and this place is also considered as one of the Mahaprabhuji Bhethak out of the other 84.

Where is it located?

Located in the city of Dwarka, it is very easily accessible from the state highway that leads to Jamnagar. Buses, both private and government are available from Ahmedabad and Jamnagar which is some 471 and 137 kilometers respectively. Many connecting trains pass through it linking Gop, Surat and even Mumbai. Rajkot is 217 kilometers away from Dwarka.

Ideal Visiting Time

The Gop temple can be visited anytime of the year but visiting it during Janmastami can be very enchanting. The birthday of Lord Krishna is considered as a very pious day to the followers who pay respect to their Gods with a grand celebration. Hotels and Dharamshala can be booked to stay for a longer period.
